I’m proud and excited to welcome you to my website. It’s filled with everything that reflects my passion for my work, my career in dance and my many other activities, including teaching, lecturing, mentoring and directing my ballet company.
Though my work as a principal dancer at New York City Ballet is of course most important, during my season breaks I direct Stars of American Ballet. We tour both nationally and internationally, bringing ballet and dance education and outreach to far-flung communities, including a thrilling trip to Mongolia in June, 2013. This past week, from July 16-20, Stars appeared at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in Becket, Massachusetts, a prestigious and historic venue that hosts both indoor and outdoor performances, where we performed a wonderful program entitled Ballet 2014.
This summer, a new venue for Stars is Aspen, Colorado, where we perform at the Aspen District Theatre on Friday, August 8th. Ticket information can be found here. Stars then returns to Santa Fe’s Lensic Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, August 13th and Thursday August 14th. To purchase tickets, click here. The following Sunday, August 17th, Stars will appear at the Eisemann Center in Richardson, Texas, just outside Dallas. You can purchase tickets here. Then it’s on to Chicago where, on August 20th, we’ll be appearing in the Chicago Dance Festival. And on October 22nd-25th, we will have our first tour in Hawaii, performing at three different venues. Featured artists include stars of New York City Ballet, Boston Ballet and San Francisco Ballet. Please visit our website by clicking on the Stars logo next to this posting and see all that we’ve accomplished and all that we’re going to do.
Last November we performed in the South, Alabama and Mississippi, and then went on to Texas, fulfilling my mission to bring great quality dance choreography and artistry to places that don’t often experience the joy and spiritual uplift of such performances. We also hosted master classes and community lectures. Our mission continues as we add on new venues and new states to our tour schedule.
My work as a teacher and dance educator has expanded greatly as well. I am the Artistic Advisor to Manhattan Youth Ballet, the Co-Artistic Director of the New York State Summer School for the Arts in Saratoga Springs and I frequently travel to conduct workshops and master classes throughout the country. My favorite annual event, Dance Against Cancer, which I co-founded and now co-produce and direct, absorbs much of my energy each spring, as this is a cause I hold dear.
I hope you’ll enjoy navigating my site and getting the chance to know me better. There’s a lot to explore and more to come in the future. Watch this spot on my home page for news and updates on all of my work.
