I’m proud and excited to welcome you to my website. It’s filled with everything that reflects my passion for my work, my career in dance and my many other activities, including teaching, lecturing, mentoring and directing my ballet company.
Though my work as a principal dancer at New York City Ballet is of course most important, during my season breaks I direct Stars of American Ballet. We tour both nationally and internationally, bringing ballet and dance education and outreach to far-flung communities, including a thrilling trip to Mongolia in June, 2013, and an upcoming three-city tour of Hawaii, another first for my company.
This past summer, Stars appeared at a number of exciting venues, including Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in Becket, Massachusetts, where we gave six sold-out performances of a wonderful program entitled Ballet 2014. Our summer also included a new venue for Stars in Aspen, Colorado as well as a return to Santa Fe’s Lensic Performing Arts Center and the Eisemann Center in Richardson, Texas, just outside Dallas. In Chicago, Stars appeared at the Chicago Dance Festival.
On October 22nd-25th, we will have our first tour in Hawaii, performing in Hilo, Kahilu and Honolulu. Featured artists include New York City Ballet artists Teresa Reichlen, Abi Stafford, Ashly Isaacs, Andrew Veyette and Ask la Cour. To finish out the year, on November 7th, we’ll be performing in New Orleans at the Mahalia Jackson Theater. Please visit our website by clicking on the Stars of American Ballet logo next to this posting to see all that we’ve accomplished and to get information on all that we’re going to do.
All of this extensive touring is a big part of fulfilling my mission to bring great quality dance choreography and artistry to places that don’t often experience the joy and spiritual uplift of such performances. We also host master classes and community lectures in a number of places where we perform. Our mission continues as we continue to add new venues and new states to our tour schedule.
My work as a teacher and dance educator has expanded greatly as well. I am the Artistic Advisor to Manhattan Youth Ballet, the Co-Artistic Director of the New York State Summer School for the Arts in Saratoga Springs and I frequently travel to conduct workshops and master classes throughout the country. My favorite annual event, Dance Against Cancer, which I co-founded and now co-produce and direct, absorbs much of my energy each spring, as this is a cause I hold dear.
I hope you’ll enjoy navigating my site and getting the chance to know me better. There’s a lot to explore and more to come in the future. Watch this spot on my home page for news and updates on all of my work.
